New addition to the family .... baby Rhea

Its again been ages since i last blogged but was convinced to blog this entry by a great friend as it was a significant moment in my life.

On 25th September 2006 my wife - Kavita gave birth to a sweet baby girl who we named Rhea. She weighed 6lbs 6oz and although is small, she is very strong and hardly cries ...still its only day 3 so i guess i should give it time.

The birth was a bit scary for all concerned ...

It started off ok - we checked in after Kavi was feeling some pains on 24th early morning and things were progressing well but just slow. All the drugs that were being given were like small drops of miracles - as with each contraction my hands were getting weaker ...Thank GOD for Epidurals - its like it take all the pain away :) Anyways like i was saying things were going well but slow ...so slow that 24hrs later we were still there waiting for more indications that it was time but alas no luck ...
It was at this point the doctors were getting concerned with the baby's BP ...it was getting very low and then recovering ...but on one occasion it got very low and remained ... Only at this point did everything happen ...doctor shouted - CRASH C-SECTION ... (having found out a bit more since then we discovered that c-sections are usually planned i.e. next day at 2pm etc ...but a crash c-section is immediate) After this - all staff ran into the operation theatre with Kavita ....
This was one of the most nerv-racking moments I had ever experienced ... like what is happening? what will happen? are they both ok? we waited only for 10mins but each one of them was like a life time ...I just prayed to GOD that they were both ok.....................then ..............
finally 3 midwifes came out smiling all is ok :) both baby and mother were fine and in no danger.

We were so relieved and could not wait too see them ... eventually after another 45 mins ... Kavi had recovered from the GA and baby was in the cot you see below ... She came out with lots of hair ... even more than i have now :o but when i looked at her i was so happy and proud. I immediately put my finger in her palm and felt her fingers around mine ...it was so amazing ...

There is so much to tell ....but i won't bore you too much more now .... Today is now 3 days later and both Kavi and Reha are at home and doing very well :)

Well what can i say - hmmm sorry! ... for not posting anything for about 3months. No excuses - can't say i wasn't bothered coz i still kept reading other blogs but i think i just needed some motivation and now just feels right :)

Hmmm so where did i leave things ...oh yep Dubai! This is just one of the best places to be ... its was like super hot but also amazing ... lots of skyscrapers, clean beaches, classy hotels and cheap but tasty food...yumm :)

Also went to the Wild Wadi - water park which is actually themed ..so like you get thunder storms ...calm sun ...windy breeze etc Its got awesome rides and some which are just relaxing like a giant inflatable ring ride round the entire park (thats where i was most of the time )

This ride starts about 30 metres above ground and they say you reach speeds of 80kph on your way down!

This was a cool place to relax on the sunbeds near the wave machine

Here you can just about see the doughnut ring rides and yep thats the 7 star Burj Al Arah Hotel - its soooooo GOOD - i don't think any picture would do it justice - you have to be there to experience it!

This was another cool water feature - its actually a massive bucket at the top which is full of water and when it gets to a certain angle it tilts and crashes down on everyone below - i guess thats one way to get refreshed!

Apart from the Burj Al Arah I kinda liked the Jumeirah Beach Hotel which is a 5 star hotel and has its own beach and docking area. Not as expensive as the Burj but its just as classy and looks great...

BIG NEWS FOR INDIAN FILM FANS!

Whilst just roaming around guess what! ...We heard Shahrukh Khan was filming in Dubai just whilst we were there ... it was so exciting and of the very few contacts we had we tried to track him down but it seems we were always a few hours behind :( Didn't even get to find out what film it was or who the leading lady was - oh well maybe was not meant to be.

Desert Safari!

On another day we went to the Desert Safari. At first i was thinking ok sand dunes and camels. But I had never expected the actual ride we took to get to a remote location in the desert would be so cool and scary!

We started with a convoy of 12 4x4s mostly all Toyota's and have to say they were really nice - leather interiors and nice refreshing a/c in the hot sun!

Looking from here it seem quite straight forward 4x4 climbing up the hill but the speed they have to get to and turns of the wheel they have to take to keep the car balanced was just incredible. The drivers under-go special training and ours was the best i reckon as the others kept finding it difficult to get uphill having to try a few times :)

Pit Stop! ....Halfway mark - all 12 car stopped to cool down by opening their hoods - the drivers also release air in the tyres - i guess to make the ride easier and help them with the driving!

Anyways finally after lots of bumping and jumping about in the car we finally got to our destination ... a open area where there were activities such as camel riding & mini 4x4 driving ...And inside an opening there was a large area where they were selling novelities, served refreshments and more...

This guy was making sand art. Really cool stuff like he would write your name using different colours of sand and do this all in a bottle. In another one he actually had created a picture of a hotel!

They also had another stand where mendi was being drawn like this one!

Finally after having literally a 3 course meal in the desert we watched a belly dance. This was no ordinary dance though as first all the lights went out ...then from above we saw a helicopter land and this woman came running towards the stage and started dancing. She tried to get me to get up on the stage but i was too full from the food and let the others have a go ;) Still she was really good and moved very well. After a few dances she again left by helicopter and vanished into the midnight sky ....

Last Night In Dubai

Final evening was spent doing some shopping and ended with a night river cruse. It was just beautiful with all the lights ...in a nice way reminded me of Embankment and now i guess i can say i have seen the best of both. All the boats were decorated in lights from top to bottom.

On board we had a buffet meal which was good but i can now say that i'm not so good with food on a boat as i felt a bit queasy nearing the end.

There are so many things that i haven't mentioned like the beautiful Palaces of the King / Princess and the shopping in Dubai (they mostly have shopping centres like us just a lot bigger - prices are the same - however you can get good bargains at smaller shops in the city centers). We also got to see the development of stunning islands that are being build in the ocean - there are now 3 where work is in progress:-

1) The Palm, Jumeriah, 2) The Palm, Jebel Ali and 3) The Palm, Deira

The Palm Islands, also referred to as The Palm Dubai and The Palms, are the world's three largest man-made islands, which are being built on the coast of the emirate of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Overall i definately recommend Dubai to anyone who wants a change from the norm and wants 2 see sun, beach, relax in amazing hotels and enjoy some of the friendliest people around.

Wow I started off wanted to catch up to today but it seems that just one week has past - damn ... well at least its kicked me off again - shall up date this blog more regularly :) yeah thanks pan for all that pushing :p

Its been a pretty good two weeks - had an excellent long weekend coz of the bank holidays and feel good that its already Thursday tomorrow!

Well over the weekend saw An American Haunting - now for those of you looking at the age cert. for this movie its only 15 but i rekon anyone reading this would be scared if they were sitting in a creeky seat in a pack cineam where everyone was so quiet with shock....i mean no-one said a word on the way out ...
Overall the movie was good ..plotwise ...acting etc and it was based on a true story!

Funny thing happened today - was about to leave work when Eddie called me over saying we need to restore a database as something failed ...anyhows we started cracking up as he was chatting to a Scotish lass who did not understand a word Ed was saying ...ie. he would say type rename patient.* and she would type rename patient.r ...i guess u had to be there ..n'ways it was kind annoying not being able to dial in coz it was a 2 min job - instead it took 1/2 hr! hmmmmm.......

Tomorrows gonna be a pool night - hopefully should be fun - will have some time to get my games in and just chill with work mates :)

Now like the rest of you i've been reading Pan's blog and all i really want to say is that this guy is one of the friendliest, kindest and most honest guys i know AND we all support you mate so keep your head held high and be HAPPY!
Another way to look at it is - good n bad things happen all the time - some things we don't have control over (i.e. like the time Mariyam punched Pan on the arm - kinda boney punch too ..oouchhh!) and basically what i'm trying to say is just roll with the punches (bad time to say that phrase hey!) and things should work out - they always do.

Tonight just saw Arsenal win 1-0 over Villareal - was a good match but i thought Arsenal could have done better - gonna now be a tense match in less than a week!

Now the main part of todays blog ! - i'm almost off to Dubai! whoopeeeeeeee
Leaving on Sat 22nd and arriving back on Sat 29th - can't wait to go and see and do everything.
If anyone has any advice on where to go...what to do- comment it now !

Finally though i know i need to diet ...(gonna really start when i get back from Dubai) i chucked in two quid for two Krispy Kreme for Friday ....MMmmmmmm dOUGHtNuts :) making ur mouth water hey! ;)

Ok well sorry i haven't updated this blog in ages ... have been really busy at home and trying to plan a holiday...problem is you get the flights but not the hotels or times aren't right i.e. you end up getting there at 7am when check-in is at 2pm or your / partner can't get time off - so many things to contend with - i reckon you need a day holiday to book a weeks worth ;)

Weather has been getting better recently - not soo cold in the mornings now and even now its kinda warm but its not bright and sunny yet...hopefully soon!

Having watched too much Pimp My Ride I was kinda dreaming what it would be like to pimp up "my ride" which is current a BMW 318i se 1995cc engine - i've only had it for a year buts its the best ...considering i started with a Peugeot 306 ..then Vauxhall Astra 1.6 ...its not surprising i'm still enjoying this car... Here's a pic of it as it is now ...

...hmmmm...maybe when i get a bit more money i'll splash out on this ... (hehehehe! ..yeah i wish!!)

Its been a great week - well now back on 2nd line offically and its like i have all the time in the world. Far less stress and even seems like i'm leaning things again - i guess sometimes there is a direction in life you are supposed to take and in this case i realised it was not being a team leader - six months too late but hey!?!?!?

Funny seeing the helpline all with new faces and lots of changes in seats - good job offline is far far away - now means they gotta travel longer to get to 2nd line - so i'm sure they will think twice before seeing any of us! ;) - unless they start ringing!! ..i'm hiding my number from that Champ guy!

Just finished watching the England vs Uruguay ... whopeee England won 2-1 but i think it was more hard work than lots of talent - oh well a win is a win and hopefully they can do that in the World Cup!

Been checking out Champs website a bit more recently - seem like i'm getting into things like M-Flo n others - downloaded a few tracks which were cool...will check out Crystal Kay soon - from the vid it looks great

Spent ages looking at Google Earth tonight ...one thing I noticed was when zooming into my road was the pictures were quite old ...like old meaning it shows the car i had almost 2yrs ago ...still was really cool - the images zooming into Mumbai were really clear - could see the Queen's Necklace (know as this because of the dramatic curve of its streetlights at night along the waterfront)

Cool Weekend

Well it really was a "cool" weekend - so cold the windscreen would be iced up in the morning but it was also good coz i had my nephews over and we watched a hindi film called Deewana Hua Pagal - its like a re-make of Theres Something About Mary - its soooo funny and was even better watching with all the family

Apart from that its now Sunday and my sis / bro in law coming over again with the kids so we can have Pani Puri ...for those of you that haven't tasted this Indian dish... you gotta try it - its yummy!!!

Now just getting prepared for a week of late shifts - doh!!! its gonna be soooo boring but hey i guess it'll give me more rest in the mornings :)

We've been planning on going to the temple for weeks now but someone always seems to get sick so maybe today - not really looking forward to it coz of the dull weather - but we'll see.

India vs Pakistan today - 5th ODI - INDIA WON BY 8 WICKETS :)

Saw Just Like Heaven - with Reese Witherspoon n Mark Ruffalo - thought it was a really nice film - sweet - its about a lonely architect (Ruffalo) who falls for the spirit of beautiful woman (Witherspoon) who once used to live in his new apartment.
More than anything i really liked the song to this film - by Katie Melua - just like heaven
Word and song is soft and makes you relax.

Its almost one n i have work tomorrow - shouldn't be too busy but hey i guess i should get some sleep ... (dream about heaven!!!)

Times changing n 1st year anniversary!!!

Things are finally changing at work ...things are becomming more relaxed ..phew!!
Lots of changes occuring ...people getting promoted ...moving positions ... new recruits - all in all its buzzing n fun.

Had a nice week so far, started up my badminton again - had a small injury and was feeling sick before so it was great getting back into it.
Still think i need a bit more practice before i can say i'm at my best again.

Kavi thinks i need to go gym so will sort out my membership this weekend and then get my company to pay for it - only perk of this job !!! well have to make the most of it na!?

It was my 1st Yr wedding anniversary on Sunday - we spent the day together and in the evening went to have a nice meal at an Indian restuarant - food was ok but it was just nice being out and about again...i think we should be doing that more.

Hoping to see a film this week ... maybe one of the Jennifer Anistons ones ...we'll see i guess.

Starving right now so will go n eat ... c ya
ps. lost to sean in pool comp :( oh well i gave him a good match ... 3-5

A week gone by...

Its been one of those weeks where things seem to go by but nothing seems right... Busy again at work but i guess thats more of the norm nowadays ... still get time for going badminton which is good as the competition is getting hotter...and good news is i'm improving each game i play :)

Apart from that have been listening to some cool songs given to me by Thanh (work mate) - thanks a lot for that ...its been keeping me cheerful and slightly motivating me when i go work in the mornings!

Tomorrow is Pool final day n i'm playing a guy who has not lost the last 3 finals so i guess i all i can do is play my best and see what happens.

Not feeling well :(

Its been a stressful week once again and to make matters worse I got the flu y'day.
It was so bad i could not even get out of bed - had the sweating chills, sore throat and felt as if nothing was going right - at least that what i put in my sickness form today hehehehe!
Everyone at work was telling me off for not taking another day off from work but I felt I'd be letting the team down and plus there would be no cover until 7pm.
Anyways it was quiet after 5:30pm today as expected and gave me a chance to relax a little.

At home: Now i feel satisfied, finally able to do the things i want and enjoy time with my mum / dad who i hardly seem to see these days. We get to have our small chat when i'm at home but it seems so little - this weekend i'll try to make up for it!

Spoke to Kavi in India - she is have a great time, chilling out with her mates and shopping!

Think i'll watch some Friends and then go sleep coz got work tomorrow - just half day so won't be too bad.

Busy week..now the weekend...finally time to relax :)

The past week has been so busy (even went work today) and so i'm glad to be relaxing at home today. But...its not the same since Kavi's not here - much quieter and its like everyones doing their own thing ... its only the 1st day but hey i hope the next 20 go really quick.

Its going to be 5 years at InPS tomorrow and on refection time has gone really quickly. I feel i have achieve a lot whilst i was there - started as a helpliner, 6months later went to 2nd line and 4 years after became a Team Leader - apparently you are supposed to get a 5year
commemorative pen!!! ...hmm just in case you are thinking thats not the reason why i have stuck it out so long - maybe its time for change or maybe i shall just see how this year goes.
Just hope things calm down at work and back to 'normal'....

Oh well - enjoyed the time off whilst it lasted and now back at work.
Damn its so busy, hardly have time to think. Its only mid-day and I wish i was back home.
Still having said that its great seeing all the boys and girls again - seem like everyone had a great time - in other words got hammered !!!

Kavi is leaving this Friday - my how time comes so quickly. She will be away for 3 weeks and i know i'm going to miss her lotsssss
Need to get some time off so i can take her to the airport - hope my manager will sort it out.

Anyways better get back to doing some work ..

1st day of 2006

1st day of the year - woke up late but still felt tired Remembering the excellent fireworks display at the London Eye which i didn't go to see as i thought it would be rubbish - but i was wrong - oh well next year i know where i will be !

Although there was nothing to celebrate now i still got a present from my dear mum - two cool t-shirts - not bad hey!?

Today went to Madame Tussauds with Kavita as she had not seen it and wanted to visit before she left for India (Friday 6th Jan). I'd seen it before so was not that special but we enjoyed it. Took photos with Aishwarya, AB, Gandhi, Becks, MJ etc etc

After that came home - quite tired, rested for a while then went to a friends place for dinner

Came back at 11pm - now totally tired - will go to sleep
